Eisner, Kurt (1867-1919) A Jewish communist who was a theatre critic in Munich At the end of the First World War he led and became the head of the revolutionary government in Bavaria. His statements that Germany was responsible for the outbreak of the war aroused great hostility towards him. After a defeat in the February 1919 election Eisner decided to resign. In his way to the assembly to deliver his resignation he was shot by Count Arco-Valley.
